OSCAR HUDSON

Oscar grew up in London and first started directing and editing as a teenager, making skate videos. He has now directed music videos for Darwin Deez, Bonobo, Young Thug & Carnage ft Meek Mill, Radiohead, Young Fathers, which as marked by his desire to experiment and play with viewers' perspectives. He has also done commercial work for the likes of booking.com and Ikea and written and directed short films.

I was really interested in trying to tap into that hyperreal aesthetic.

Director ID profiles the best directors working in music videos today.

In each episode, we invite directors to be a part of the process in a creative collaboration where the director has full control over how they choose to record their interview. The result is always different and unexpected. Each episode is an expression of individuality and the whole series a document of a generation of filmmakers in the digital age.

DIRECTOR ID DANNY COHEN

Danny Cohen is based in Melbourne, Australia. He works both as director and music photographer and has collaborated with artists such as Mac DeMarco, King Gizzard and the Lizzard Wizzard, The Murlocs and Courtney Barnett and Kurt Vile. His eclectic style is deeply influenced by pop-culture, from Jodorowsky to 60s/70s Japanese Tokusatu, and unique in the way it uses visual humour to normalise the bizarre.

DIRECTOR ID ROGER GUÀRDIA

Born and raised in the suburbs of Barcelona, Roger Guàrdia started directing music videos for his friends while at university. Roger Guàrdia is now based in NYC and is a director with a fresh and strong cinematic style working internationally in music videos and commercials. He worked with internationally recognized labels such as Warp, Captured Tracks, Sony Music and Matador, and made videos for Battles, Bad Gyal and Nothing But Thieves, as well as work for Stella McCartney, Nike, Converse, UNICEF, Huawei, and Adidas. He's currently writing his first feature film.

DIRECTOR ID ALLIE AVITAL

Born and raised in New York, Alie Avital has directed videos for School of Seven Bells, The Pains of Being Pure at Heart, The Mutual Benefit, Moses Sumney and Autre Ne Veut amongst others. She draws influence from her artistic upbringing - her father was a opera set designer and she grew up studying arts, later evolving into filmmaking through visual arts and performance directing. Her first narrative short ‘Naked Woman’ was selected for the seventh edition of Venice Biennale Cinema College.

DIRECTOR ID YOONHA PARK

Yoonha Park is an American filmmaker based in New York. He has been directing music videos and short films since 2007 and has worked with Washed Out, M83, Liars, Preoccupations and Protomartyr. He has an interest in depicting performance in his work and has collaborated with NYC Ballet several times.



DIRECTOR ID IAN PONS JEWELL

Ian Pons Jewell is a film director from London. He has established himself as one of the best directors working today due to the worlds he creates with his quirky, original storytelling. He has won recognition both for his music videos, for artists such as Paolo Nutini, Naughty Boy, Vince Staples, NAO and Valentino Khan, as well as commercial work for Finish, Huawei, Nike and Google Pixel, amongst others.



DIRECTOR ID BROOK LINDER

Brook Linder grew up in Missouri, later moving to Los Angeles. His childhood making home videos, and his interest in pop-culture myths, define his work and preference for making low-budget films. Throughout his career he has worked with bands such as A Place To Bury Strangers, Preoccupations, NINE INCH NAILS and Spoon.
