The 180 Creative Lab is a moment of collaboration and co-creation among creative professionals and interaction with a broader audience, set in a city with great artistic and cultural potential.
The first and only edition, in Guimarães, 2013, a year after the city was named European Capital of Culture, featured artists like Hiro Murai, Mac DeMarco, Becky&Joe, Jonathan Calugi, and Joaquín Mora. These artists led various workshops and co-creation activities that resulted in numerous interventions in the city and innovative audiovisual content, including a music video for the song "Let My Baby Stay" by the Canadian musician.
11 years after this first edition, the 180 Creative Lab reemerges, this time in Aveiro, the Portuguese Capital of Culture 2024, from June 19 to 22.
Seven international and national artists, including filmmakers, illustrators, performers, photographers, and sound artists, will gather at VIC // Aveiro Arts House—the museum house of Vasco Branco, an emblematic space of the city that includes a cinema room built in the 60s and a recording studio—and on the streets of Aveiro, over four days for various experimentation sessions, film sessions, and talks, culminating in a collective exhibition.
“
The 180 Creative Lab is a unique opportunity to share our vision with the community.
In these meetings, we bring together artists to share experiences, knowledge, and let their creativity flow, and we can see that the creative process inspires and contributes to the cultural environment.
”
— Joaquín Mora, Creative Director
